I decided to paint a pair of purple crowned fairy-wrens for this piece. These little birds live in monogamous pairs in dense riparian vegetation in northern Australia.
I love the idea that these birds like a married couple spend their lives navigating a dangerous world together. I imagined the conversations they must have. This painting represents a moment in time where Mr Wren has landed on a crocodile and Mrs Wren is telling him her thoughts on the situation.
