Our environment is screaming out for help but will we listen or pretend we don’t hear?
This framed wooden panel depicts a beautiful egret with a green tree snake wrapped around it’s beak to silence it.
Feather by feather.
Painting all those scales. Living on a rural property i am lucky to have a carpet python that lives in the roof cavity of our house. I had a few snake skins to use to help as a reference when I was painting the scales.
Painting the eye is always one of the first things I do. Once they have an eye their personality and expression starts to show through.
Working out scale placement.
Early blocking in stage of the painting. I often get asked how I know which animals I should put together. The answer is I just see the final painting in my head and then need to find the animals to match that vision.
