The animals are in this together. What crisis happens to one will impact others. I have paired a masked owl and a green tree frog in the moment before the owl lifts off in flight.

Early blocking in stage of the work. In the reference image the owl had her foot tucked right up in her feathers but I thought this looked odd when I drew it up so added a claw in the final work.
